This year marks the 10th anniversary for the Fairfield Public Library’s “One Book One Town” event. This year the committee chose 2 books in celebration of a decade of reading together. The books are “Books for Living” by Will Schwalbe and “A Child of Books” by Oliver Jeffers and Sam Winston. Each year, the library has a committee that reads books and then decides which book is relevant and thought provoking. The unveiling of the book is a special treat with clues given out for weeks in advance. It has become an obsession among a group of my Friends to try to figure out the book in advance (I figured out one but not the other.) I recently started reading “Books for Living” and it is definitely thought provoking. It is a book about books. It is a book about reading and the author’s short list on books that deserve to be read. I am always looking for good book suggestions and this book has it all and then some.
The librarians and other town organizations do a great job putting together programs, events, talks, contests that everyone can participate in. To find out what is available – you can check out the calendar of events on the library’s web-site HERE.
The authors will be speaking at the Quick Center – details on when and how to obtain tickets will be announced shortly.
Happy Reading!
